Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL) was founded in 2000 to accommodate housing benefits to all the citizens of India. The RGRHCL Housing Scheme was begun in Karnataka. The RGRHCL is also known as the BasavaVasati Scheme.
The foremost objective of this project is to accommodate housing for economically and socially weaker people through the productive implementation of state and central housing schemes. V. Somanna (Housing Minister) said that the government of Karnataka 1has planned to build 10 lakh houses next year. These include 1.2 lakh houses under the Karnataka Slum Development Board, 5 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and 2.5 lakh houses (1 lakh in Bengaluru and 1.5 lakh houses in Bagalkot, Ballari, Gadag, Belagavi).

Beneficiaries
The leading beneficiaries of this project are people from below the poverty line or backward communities. This scheme is open only to the permanent citizens of the state. Migrants are not permitted to apply under this housing scheme.

• The applicant should be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
• The household income of the applicant should not be more than Rs 32,000 per annum.
• The applicant should not own a pucca house anywhere in the state or country.
